There came a long gap after that when they secured a title for the 5th time only in 1946-47. Three years later, FA Cup final was again contested by them in 1950 but without any success. In the 1953-54 season, Liverpool FC faced a downhill trend being demoted to the Second Division.

In 1959, a new manager Bill Shankly took over the operations of Liverpool FC. His first step was to remove 24 players from the team. His strength lay in forming strategies for the growth of club through exchanging ideas with other founding boot, prominent among which were Bob Paisley, Reuben Bennett and Joe Fagan. Due to his efforts, Liverpool FC was again reinstated in the First Division in 1961-62. Another noteworthy target was achieved with the club winning the League in 1963-64 after a lapse of 17 years. More glory was in store with the club sweeping a win in another League in 1965-66. Just prior to that, the club had secured their first FA Cup in a season. Liverpool FC did not look back then. The UEFA Cup fell under their domain in 1972-73 and one year later, FA Cup was also retained. It was then that Bob Paisley took over Bill Shankly's position being his assistant before.

Paisley imparted a new vision to Liverpool FC. He infused a fresh spirit in the club which secured UEFA Cup in 1975-76 besides winning the League. Just one year later, European Cup was won by them for the first time however they failed to score a win in the FA Cup final. Under the smart supervision of Paisley, Liverpool FC retained the European Cup the next season as well apart from setting a new record of 68 points by winning the League again. That was a domestic record. Paisley went on to lead Liverpool FC in a total of nine seasons, which gained 21 trophies. 6 league titles, 3 European Cups, 3 successive League Cups and a UEFA Cup. However, Paisley failed to make the club win in the FA Cup. The club has faced more exciting times with ups and downs to date.

In 1979, Liverpool FC signed a deal with Hitachi enabling them to have a sponsor's logo on their shirts. They became the first British professional club to do so in the process. The other sponsors of the club have been Carlsberg, Candy, Crown Paints with Standard Chartered Bank following soon. Carlsberg takes the lead in being a part of the longest agreement with Liverpool FC.
