The basic idea of the V festival was actually stirred by Jarvis Cocker, who is the lead vocalist of the Pulp. He once remarked that he would love to play two outdoor venues in two days. They came up with the plan of holding two performances, one in Victoria Park Warrington and the second one in Hylands Park Chelmsford. This gave the fans from north and south the opportunity to see their favorite bands at one time. Later with time more bands added up to the bill creating it one of the most looked forward to events of music. Victoria Park was soon too small to accommodate the audiences so Weston Park became the new destination for the festival. The festival was initially named as V96 now it has simply become The V festival.
