Details of Green Day and the Ticket Luck value
Over the past few years, Green Day has been a prominent figure when it comes to punk rock music apart from being attributed as the pioneers of Punk Rock music revival. With the release of their recent albums like American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, they have exposed themselves to diverse array of audiences including youngsters as well. Although the band is cited to be a 'Sell out band' by most of the punk community, but the fact remains the fact. They're good at what they do and their fans love them for that.
Green Day has been in the music industry for quite some time, but most of their international success came to them following the hit singles like American Idiot, Wake me Up When September Ends, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns. Over the years, the band has claimed several nominations and awards, including four Grammy Awards and two BRIT Awards. Ever since their formation, Green Day's line up has pretty much remained the same. The only change in the line up was made when John Kiffmeyer left the band, shortening the line up down to Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt. Ever since then, the band's line up has remained the same.
Green Day originally started as a band named Sweet Children that was formed by Armstrong and Dirnt back in the teen years. The band faced the live audience for the first time on October 17, 1987 in Vallejo, California. Later, the duo included Kiffmeyer as the band's drummer to complete its line up, but in later years the slot for the band's drummer was filled by Tre Cool who still goes on to be the band's drummer.
The band nailed its first record deal with Lookout! Records, who asked them to change their name before they release anything. And so they did, hence the band acquired its present name, "Green Day". Following the record deal, the band's debut E.P "1,000 Hours" surfaced in 1989, which was followed by their first LP "39/Smooth" later on. Shortly the band also released two more E.Ps namely being "Sweet Children" and "Slappy". Lookout! Records compiled the all three E.Ps by the band and released 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, which was followed by bands first National Tour.
"Kerplunk!" was the band's second full length studio album that came out in January 1992. The album helped band in increasing their fan base to some extent as it managed to sell four million records worldwide. The minor international success that the band got from their second album provided them with the launching pad for their third studio album "Dookie". Commercially, Dookie is, by far, the most successful album ever to is released by Green Day. Containing hit tracks like Welcome to Paradise, Longview, She, Basket Case and When I Come Around; Dookie managed to sell well over 900,000 units in U.K only hence acquiring the 3x Platinum Status. While on the other side of the world, the album peaked at #2 spot on U.S Billboard 200 Chart and received official Diamond Status.
All the Singles from the album also did pretty well chart-wise all across the globe. Moreover, Kerrang! Ranked the album at #33 spot in their 100 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, while Classic Rock & Metal Hammer ranked the album amongst their list of 200 Greatest Albums of the 90s.
Following the release of Dookie, Green Day embarked on their first international Tour, which ended up letting Green Day expand their fan base to millions all over the globe. This however changed with the release of their three follow up albums which were Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning; as all of these three didn't do as good as Dookie. But they surely did good enough to earn the band with some good critical reviews and nominations & awards.
The band regained their a bit lost glory when they released their seventh studio album titled 'American Idiot'. The international fame of the album led it to be named the 'Punk Rock Opera' and several awards come along the way as well. After being released in September, 2004 the album peaked at #1 spot on the U.K albums Chart and earned 6x Platinum Status after selling 1,972,258 units in UK alone. American Idiot didn't only help the band in regaining the fame back; it was also their first album ever to top the album charts both in U.S and U.K along with several other countries as well. Following the success of the album Kerrang ranked the album at #13 spot on their 100 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The band released its most recent album "21st Century breakdown" in May of 2009. Featuring the hit singles like Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns, the album won a Grammy Award for the Best Rock Album and peaked at #1 spot on U.K Albums chart.
